
FM Jaitley sent a tweet addressing the cash crunch in the country:
Have reviewed the currency situation in the country. Over all there is more than adequate currency in circulation and also available with the Banks. The temporary shortage caused by ‘sudden and unusual increase’ in some areas is being tackled quickly.

Shiv Pratap Shukla, MoS,Finance, accepted that there was a shortage of cash in ATMs in some areas of the country and added that the problem will be resolved within three working days as the government was planning to release Rs. 1,25,000 crores of cash currency which it holds.
Delhi, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra are assumed to be the affected states.
Rajnish Sinha, SBI Chairman said that it was only a temporary situation.
