FIR against Salman Khurshid for calling self ‘baap’ of Yogi

FIR against Salman Khurshid for calling self ‘baap’ of Yogi

The Bharatiya Janata Party has registered an FIR at the Kotwali police station after Senior Congress leader and candidate from Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad Lok Sabha constituency, Salman Khurshid, courted a fresh controversy by using a popular Bollywood dialogue to call himself Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ‘baap’ (father).

Khurshid also challenged Yogi to engage in a debate on the 2008 Batla House encounter ‘at a cowshed’. It all started with Yogi questioning Khurshid’s ‘rishte’ (relations) with terror accused in Batla House encounter.

In response to that, Khurshid said ‘rishte mein main unka baap lagta hun’, triggering a massive row and objection from the BJP and Hindu Mahasangh members.

Adityanath during a campaign trail for the BJP candidate from Farrukhabad had mentioned that cases like Batla House encounter occured when the Congress was in power. "One must question Salman Khurshid what relation he shared with the people involved in Batla House. On what grounds did he go to defend them in court?," Yogi asked.

Khurshid also took potshots at his opponent from the Bahujan Samaj Party and its supremo Mayawati, and said that he will make a ‘beautiful graveyard’ for his opponent.

He, however, took a low dig at Mayawati and said that the BSP chief will ‘straighten her tail’ when she sees she has won only 18 seats against Congress president Rahul Gandhi who will win over 165 seats in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

The ‘baap’ remark has been picked up from the dialogue of a popular movie called ‘Shahenshah’ starring Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan.
