The counting of votes is currently underway in Haryana and the early trends have given a significant lead to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over its rivals, however, the saffron party still looks way short of breaching the majority mark i.e. 46 for the state 90-seat Assembly.
Political pundits have already started mooting a hung Assembly in Haryana and with both Congress and BJP seeming to fall short of securing the majority mark, Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) is touted to emerge as the 'kingmaker' in the state.
According to latest trends, JJP is leading from 12 seats and the party is sure that it will easily win from these seats. BJP is leading on 40 seats while the Congress on some 31 seats.
Reports have emerged that Congress has already put an offer on the table to the JJP for a potential coalition. The grand old party has offered the Chief Minister's post to JJP chief Dushyant Singh Chautala to sweeten the deal.
When asked about the report, Dushyant Chautala told media, "I have not had any discussions with anyone. The decision will be taken only after the final numbers are out."
Reports suggest that the key to finalisation of the alliance will be in the hands of Ashok Tanwar, who recently quit the Congress. His camp has 5 independent candidates who may end up joining hands with JJP.
The five Independent candidates are: Randheer Singh Gholan (Pundri) , Nayan Pal Rawat (Prithla), Gokul Sethia (Sirsa), Ranjeet Singh Chautala (Rania) and Balraj Kundu ( Maham).
The Haryana elections were held in a single phase on October 21.
