J&K Police announce Rs 30 lakh reward for any information on three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists

J&K Police announce Rs 30 lakh reward for any information on three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists

Jammu and Kashmir Police announced a reward of Rs 30 lakh for any information leading to the arrest of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Mohammad Amin alias "Jehangir Saroori" and his two accomplices. The police have also put up "wanted - dead or alive" posters in Kishtwar and other nearby regions.

The bounty on Saroori and his two associates - Riyaz Ahmad alias "Hazari" and Mudassir Hussain - came days after police in the Doda district came out with posters announcing a reward of Rs 15 lakh for any information on two wanted Hizbul Mujahideen leaders - Haroon Abbass Wani and Masood Ahmad.

According to one of the posters, Mohammad Amin carries a reward of Rs 15 lakh while Riyaz Ahmad and Mudassir Hussain carry a reward of Rs 7.5 lakh each.

The J&K Police has put posters of Saroori and his accomplices in Kishtwar's busy market places. In the posters, the police have assured that the identity of potential informants will be kept secret and provided two contact numbers for informants to share the information.

The police believe that the three terrorists are active in Kishtwar. Kishtwar's Senior Superintendent of Police Harmeet Singh said, "We hope the people will cooperate and will provide the necessary information leading to their capture or killing."

In the last year, terror activities have increased significantly in Kishtwar. Senior BJP leader Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar were killed outside their house in Kishtwar town on November 1, 2018. Also, RSS functionary Chanderkant Sharma and his PSO were assassinated in the district hospital on April 9.
