
The “Operation Smile (or Muskan)” will begin from January 1 with the sole objective to rescue helpless children. It’s a joint effort of the state police and the Women Development and Child Welfare Department.
A decision to launch the sixth edition of such program was taken up at a high-level meeting held today, which was attended by the Director-General of Police, Mr Mahender Reddy, and the Principal Secretary of Women & Child Welfare and Disabled, Mr Jagadeeshwar, besides senior police official Ms Swati Lakra, Mr Vijay Kumar, Commissioner, School Education, Mr Subramanyam of State Legal Services Authority, and Mrs Sabita, Joint Director (in-charge, Schemes), Women Development & Child Welfare, besides others.
The Principal Secretary, Mr Jagadeeshwar, said that ‘Operation Smile wil be conducted between January 1 and 31 in coordination with the state police department to rescue children, who are in distress (street condition) across the state. He said instructions have already given to the District Collectors as well DCPUs take up the program. He also said that in all 182 Homes and Institution were identified to accommodate the rescued children.
Mr Mahender Reddy, the DGP said as many as 112 Teams have formed to take up the Operation Smile more intensively this time and instructions were issued down the line.
Mrs Sabita, JD (Schemes), WD&CW, gave the presentation. Explaining about the month-long program, she said during this period a massive inspection drive will be taken up covering all public places.
