Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala on Monday recorded the highest ever Covid positive cases as 138 new cases were detected on a single day, wrote Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on his Facebook post.
In the past four days, new cases have gone past the 100-mark taking the total to 516 positive cases.
The only saving grace is the number of local infections, which was just four, while 87 came from abroad and 47 were those who came from within the country.
"At present 1,540 positive patients are under treatment, while 1,747 have been cured of the disease. Four new hotspots were added taking the total to 112, while one hotspot has been excluded from the list," said Vijayan.
Currently 147,351 are under isolation at homes and corona care centres, while 2,126 people are under observation in various hospitals in the state.
State Devasom Minister Kadakampally Surendran said the capital city is precariously placed and hence there should be no more than 5 to 10 people in any political meetings, while government functions should not have more than 20 people.
Legislators and ministers have been asked to keep away from marriages in their constituencies.
State Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunilkumar decided to go into self isolation at his home in Thrissur district after a person turned Covid positive. Both were present together in a function.
