Three back-to-back blasts rocked Kabul city on Wednesday. The first blast was reported at Afghan capital Kabul’s Dasht-e-Barchi area in PD13 while the second explosion was reported from Qala-e-Fatullah. The first blast happened close to the PD13 police headquarters building in Dasht-e-Barchi.
Minutes later, another blast was heard in Shahr-e-Naw area, in Kabul’s PD10 area, news agency ANI reported. Security forces, that rushed to the blasts site, have surrounded the area. Clashes have also been reported in the areas.
Although there hasn’t been any report of casualties, many are feared dead. The blasts, according to the reports, were followed by gunshots. No organisation has claimed the responsibility of the blasts.
The Afghan interior ministry on Wednesday said that a suicide bomber blew himself up in front of the police station in central Kabul near foreign embassies and government offices. “We are rushing ambulances to the blast site and cordoning off the entire area,” said police spokesman Hashmat Stanekzai.
The Kabul blasts have come two days after at least 13 people died following an explosion at a mosque in eastern Afghanistan. The blast took place near the area where civilians had gathered for prayers. More than 30 injured in the blast. The area was also being used as a voter registration centre
