Actor turned politician Shatrughan Sinha, in a series of tweets, on Sunday hailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for displaying "statesmanship" in dealing with "IAS strike" in Delhi. Sinha sought PM Narendra Modi's intervention in helping Delhi out of the 'crisis'. Earlier, the BJP Lok Sabha member threw his weight behind Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the impasse between Aad Aadmi Party-led Delhi government and the central government appointed Lieutenant-General (L-G) Anil Baijal.
On Sunday, hundreds of AAP workers staged a protest march to Prime Minister’s residence on Sunday demanding his intervention in the matter - they were stopped midway by the police. A faceoff between Kejriwal-led AAP and L-G Anil Baijal saw a lot of developments during the weekend. AAP’s protest march was halted midway by the police and IAS Officer’s Association denied all allegations of an on-going “strike” by AAP. Kejriwal has demanded an end to the “strike” by Delhi bureaucrats amidst other demands. Kejriwal appeared to soften his stance against IAS officers as his sit-in protest at the L-G’s residence entered its eighth day.
Sinha earlier criticised the move to not allow the four non-BJP chief ministers to meet Kejriwal at L-G residence on Saturday. He said the "despotism, autarchy & use of power not allowing the four non-BJP chief ministers to meet him" will tarnish the image of the BJP further, which should give BJP "some food for thought".
Sinha has been at loggerheads with his party for quite some time and has even indicated his exit from the saffron party. He even supported Kejriwal's "full statehood for Delhi" call.
