
US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin opened their first-ever summit in the Finnish capital Helsinki- news agency AFP reported. "I think we have great opportunities together. Frankly, we have not been getting along very well for the last number of years. I think we will end up having an extraordinary relationship," Trump was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
"We have a lot of good things to talk about. We have discussions on everything from trade to military to missiles to nuclear to China. We will be talking a little bit about China, our mutual friend, President Xi," Putin was quoted as saying by agencies. Earlier, Trump congratulated Putin for hosting a 'great world cup' in Russia. "I would like to congratulate you on a very great world cup, one of the best ever," he said.
According to AFP, Putin told Trump that 'the time has to come to talk in a substantive way'.
