Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan dies at 80

Kofi Annan, former United Nations Secretary-General has passed away. He was 80. A statement from Kofi Annan Foundation read that the Nobel Peace Laureate, passed away peacefully on Saturday 18th August after a short illness. He was the first black African to get the honor for the role of the world's top diplomat i.e United Nations Secretary-General. A Ghanaian diplomat served two terms of office from 1997 to 2006. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001 for his work for a better organized and more peaceful world.
