Former Cricketer and the Cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu in Punjab government has courted controversy for his visit to Pakistan attending the oath taking ceremony of his Pak friend Imran Khan, who became the Prime Minister of the Country. His visit to Pakistan has been criticized by the political parties and even BJP has demanded his ouster from the Punjab government. Sidhu's controversial hug with the Pakistani army chief has also been criticized. Navjot Singh Sidhu, while defending himself in a Press Meet has raised the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's bus visit to Lahore and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's unscheduled trip to Lahore in 2015, on his way back from an official visit to Afghanistan.
