Syria Return Al Qaeda Terror Suspect Arrested In Capital

New Delhi: Delhi police on Monday arrested a suspect of Al Qaeda from east Delhi who had come from Syria to recruit youths from Delhi and his mission was to save Rohingya Muslims.

According to the police the British National identified as Samium Rahaman alias Shumon Haq has radicalized a dozen of youth in Bangladesh to fight for Rohingya Muslims.

Sources confirmed that the accused was in Delhi to identify youth from different parts of Delhi so that he can radicalize them in anti-national activities. Rahaman was supposed to recruit at least half a dozen youths by March next year and wanted them to travel to north-east India. He was in touch with few people residing in east Delhi who were supposed to meet Rahaman soon. Cops have claimed that accused has visited Morocco, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Turkey, Syria, Bangladesh, and India for terrorist activities.

“In the month of July 2017, an information was received in Special Cell from deployed sources that one Raju Bhai of terrorist organization Al-Qaeda is trying to set up its base in Delhi to carry out terrorist activities in India,” DCP Special Cell Pramod Kushwah said.

During spot interrogation, it was found that suspect is an active militant of Al Qaeda since the year 2013. He has fought in Syria as a member of Jabhat Al Nusra ( An affiliate of Al Qaeda in Syria) against Syrian Government forces.
