The film directed by Prashanth Neel has now set another incredible feat by becoming the only project after SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Conclusion to vault over the Rs 100 cr mark in Karnataka.

It's definitely a rousing moment for the Kannada industry to see their local film breaching past the Rs 100 cr milestone in the state for the first time.

Produced by Hombale Films, KGF was rolled out in 2,400 screens across the country on 21 December and was dubbed in four languages. The Hindi version was released by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment and Anil Thadani's AA Films.

In two weeks, the Hindi dubbed version of KGF has earned Rs 31.7 cr. While the first-week collection was a fantastic Rs 21.2 cr, the film had a decent outing in the second week with Rs 10.5 cr nett. KGF is now the fifth highest-grossing Hindi dubbed film of all time after Baahubali: The Conclusion, 2.0, Baahubali: The Beginning and Kabali. It will soon surpass the earnings of Kabali (Rs 32 cr) to become the fourth top-earning Hindi dubbed film.

In the second week run on 28 December (Friday), KGF, with its Rs 1.25 cr nett, surprised the North belt by outperforming Shah Rukh Khan's Zero which earned Rs 1 cr. Buoyed by the success of the first part, the makers are now gearing up for the shooting of the sequel.

KGF: Chapter 2 is all set to go on floors from April 2019 if everything goes well as planned. The team has already shot nearly 20% of the second part, and the remaining portions will be filmed from summer 2019.

Director Prashanth Neel will return to helm the sequel with the same technical crew retained by the team.

Although it's premature to talk about the release date of the sequel, the grapevine in Sandalwood is that Hombale Films is eyeing the same 21 December for KGF: Chapter 2 this year.

The film is having a phenomenal run in Bangalore with a record showcase of more than 350 shows in its third week. In AP and Telangana, the film has crept past the Rs 20 cr gross mark with a share of Rs 9.5 cr.

With no potential competition in Telugu states until Sankranti releases arrive, the film, which is already a solid blockbuster there, has entered the third week.

KGF has also outgrossed Vijay's Sarkar and Suriya's Gang (Telugu title of Thaanaa Serndha Kottam) to become third highest-grossing Telugu dubbed film of 2018 after 2.0 and Abhimanyudu (Telugu title of Vishal's Irumbu Thirai).

KGF: Chapter 1 also dominates movie database platform IMDB by holding 64.2% pageviews in real-time popularity, with the second spot occupied by Ranveer Singh's Simmba with just 7%. In the USA, the film has grossed nearly $700K and entered the third week with 23 new locations added now
