Hundreds Of Kerala Fishermen Yet To Reach Home; Cyclone Create Havoc In Lakshadweep

Cyclone Ockhi, that killed 12 people in coastal Kerala and Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari district as of Friday, lashed the Lakshadweep islands resulting in damage to several houses.

It is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards across Lakshadweep islands during the next 24 hours and then recurve north-eastwards during the subsequent 48 hours, according to the latest Met department bulletin.

Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram district Collector Vasuki told the media that the 102 Kerala fishermen who had gone into the sea are yet to reach home and they have not been able to contact their relatives.

Schools in the coastal districts in Tamil Nadu and Kerala have been closed. Chennai can expect moderate and intermittent spells of rain for the next few days
