As Pakistan goes to polls today, with more than 105 million Pakistanis expected to cast their votes in the general election, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan launched a fresh attack on jailed former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif. The official Twitter account of PTI posted Khan’s statements as he urged citizens to exercise their franchise today.
Taking a jibe at Sharif, who is currently lodged in Adiala jail in connection with a corruption case, Khan said that the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) [PML-N] leader was “used to the luxuries in life” and hence was “not used to the tough life in jail.” He also attacked Sharif’s brother and current PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif in the tweet posted by the PTI.

“Nawaz sharif thought many people were going to turn out for him but Shahbaz sharif stabbed him in the back. Shahbaz sharif left him stranded in jail to forward himself and his son, (sic)” said a tweet by the PTI quoting Khan. The cricketer-turned-politician also blamed Sharif for allegedly aiding “external forces” who are “constantly attacking” the Pakistani Army.
The PTI chief also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his supposed “approval” of Nawaz Sharif while targeting his political rival. The PTI tweet read, “Nawaz sharif has done his best to help external forces who are constantly attacking our armed forces. Modi approves of NS but not the Park Fauj. He has said it himself (sic)”.
